Position Overview

Anesthesiologist position at the Salem VA Health Care System in Salem, Virginia. The role involves providing comprehensive anesthesia services under the supervision of the chief of anesthesiologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative anesthesia care including hospital rounds.
• Supervise CRNAs and provide anesthesia consultation.
• Participate in on-call coverage nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Educate residents and students and participate in morbidity and mortality conferences.
• Perform administrative duties and ensure regulatory compliance.

Schedule

Work schedule is 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday with on-call responsibilities as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $390,000 to $400,000 per year. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers up to $200,000 in student loan repayment. Benefits include 50-55 days of paid time off annually, federal pension and 401K with up to 5% contribution, health/vision/dental insurance, malpractice coverage with tail, and possible $1,000 annual CME reimbursement.

Requirements

Requires Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree, full unrestricted medical license, U.S. citizenship, and proficiency in English. Board certification and experience supervising CRNAs preferred.
