Position Overview

Fellowship-trained Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist position at Ochsner Children's Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. The role focuses on the full range of congenital cardiac pathology including heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for approximately 250 bypass cases and 500 cath lab cases annually.
• Cover congenital cardiac cases on most days with goal of 100% pediatric practice.
• Work with a small team of CRNAs experienced in congenital cardiac cases at a typical 1:1 ratio.
• Participate in tiered call system with first call divided equally.

Qualifications

• BC/BE Fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologist.
• Sub-fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia or equivalent experience required.

Schedule and Call

Tiered call system with post-call day off if stay past a specified time. Ample vacation and CME time. Potential for academic time in schedule.

Facility Details

Ochsner Children's Hospital is a nationally ranked children's hospital with a leading congenital heart program. Services include a 54-bed Level III-C NICU and 26-bed PICU. The facility is the only one in Louisiana offering pediatric heart transplantation. Construction of a new children's hospital is scheduled for completion in 2027.
