Position Overview

Section Head for Critical Care Anesthesiology at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. The role includes serving as unit co-director for the Thoracic and Cardiovascular ICU (TCVICU) at the 900-bed Ochsner Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a growing team of Critical Care Anesthesiology faculty. Provide care in a 12-bed TCVICU covering cardiothoracic surgery, mechanical circulatory support including ECMO, LVAD, and IABP, plus vascular surgery. Up to 30% of time may be spent in operative anesthesiology if desired.

Qualifications

Board Certified, Fellowship-trained Critical Care Anesthesiologists preferred, or significant experience with Cardiac Critical Care Anesthesiology. Strong interest in academics and research required.

Ochsner Medical Center is a 900-bed tertiary-care referral center. The Department of Anesthesiology includes 70 Anesthesiologists, 100 CRNAs, and more than 45 house staff with annual case volume exceeding 80,000. Teaching program with fully accredited Anesthesiology residency plus Adult Cardiac Anesthesia, Pulmonary Critical Care, and Neurocritical Care fellowship programs.

Schedule & Call Requirements

Clinical time split between ICU leadership and optional operative anesthesiology.
