Locum tenens general anesthesiologist position in Newport News, Virginia. Start date 07/16/2026 through 12/31/2027. Two openings available.

Schedule and Call Requirements

12-hour day shifts with required in-house night float coverage from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. 36 hours per week.

Case Mix

General, OB, Neuro, and Ortho anesthesia cases.

Compensation

Estimated weekly pay $10,020 - $10,560. 1099 contract position.

Requirements

MD or DO from accredited medical school. Completion of approved anesthesiology residency. Board certification or fellowship training required. Current physician license required. At least 1 year of anesthesiology experience preferred. ECFMG and FLEX required if applicable.

Responsibilities

Assist in directing and coordinating anesthesia department activities. Provide medical management for patients undergoing surgery and other procedures. Perform pre-anesthesia assessments. Obtain and verify patient consent. Discuss anesthetic options with patients. Induce, maintain, and emerge patients from anesthesia. Monitor physiological status throughout the perioperative period.
