Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology | Seattle, WA

Position Overview

USAP-WA seeks a physician leader as Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. This role provides strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership for obstetric anesthesia services in the largest labor and delivery unit in the Pacific Northwest.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead anesthesia services for approximately 8,000 deliveries annually
• Partner with obstetric and hospital leadership on safety, quality, and operations
• Participate in OBQI Committee, Perinatal Quality Committee, and Surgical Quality Council
• Support education with rotating anesthesia residents from University of Washington and Virginia Mason
• Promote best practices for high-risk obstetrics including complex placental pathologies

Qualifications

• MD/DO with board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology
• Completion of an Obstetric Anesthesiology fellowship
• Demonstrated leadership in clinical operations, quality, or program development
• Strong communication and collaborative leadership style
• Commitment to education in a teaching environment

Swedish Medical Center is a quaternary referral center with a robust Maternal-Fetal Medicine department, high-volume Placenta Accreta Spectrum service, and established OB/Gyn residency program. USAP Washington is the largest majority physician-owned private practice anesthesia group in the Northwest.

Practice Scope

Practice includes regional, thoracic, neuro, vascular, general, pediatric, and OB anesthesia. This position focuses on obstetric anesthesia leadership while maintaining experience across the full breadth of anesthesia practice.
