Position Overview

Chairman of Anesthesia Department position at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, New Jersey. This leadership role oversees a low-volume community hospital setting with predictable hours and minimal call burden.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee anesthesia operations, staffing, and scheduling
• Provide direct anesthesia care in low-acuity cases
• Supervise or collaborate with CRNAs and physician colleagues
• Lead recruitment and quality initiatives
• Serve as liaison between anesthesia staff and hospital leadership

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O.; Board Certified in Anesthesiology
• Eligible for NJ medical licensure
• 5+ years clinical experience (leadership preferred)
• Strong communication, team-building, and organizational skills

Schedule and Call

Light call rotation with 98%+ chance of not being called in. Most OR days end before 4 PM. No acute care surgery.

Practice Details

3-room operating suite plus 1 endoscopy suite running 2 days per week. Case types limited to general surgery, urology, limited orthopedics, and pediatric dental. No OB, trauma, cardiac, or neurosurgery.

Compensation and Benefits
