Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist | Lancaster, PA

Position Overview

Full-time Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist position at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, PA. The department includes 38 physicians and over 70 CRNAs covering more than 50 anesthetizing locations daily across Lancaster General Hospital (Level 1 trauma center), Women and Babies Hospital, and two outpatient surgery centers. Annual volume exceeds 32,000 anesthetics with approximately 600 cardiac cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide cardiothoracic anesthesia care as part of a 13-physician cardiac team that also participates in general OR and call coverage.
• Practice primarily in a 3:1 medical direction model with some direct care.
• Share in-house call equally with two physicians in-house daily, separate cardiac call team, and two backup physicians at night.
• Participate in teaching of SRNAs and primary care residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine.
• Eligible for unrestricted PA medical license.
• Graduate of ACGME-accredited Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship and Board Certified/Board Eligible in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, or extensive cardiothoracic anesthesia and echocardiography experience with Testamur status on the Advanced Perioperative TEE exam.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
• In good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

Facility Details

Lancaster General Hospital is a Level 1 trauma center. The practice covers all surgical modalities except transplant and complex pediatric cases.
