Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology | Dayton, OH

Position Overview

Division Chief of Anesthesiology role at Shriners Children's Ohio in partnership with Dayton Children's Hospital. This physician leader oversees a team of 3 full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologists while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and administrative leadership for the anesthesia department
• Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, and performance improvement
• Maintain active clinical practice in pediatric anesthesia
• Supervise and mentor Pediatric Anesthesiologists
• Manage physician recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling
• Serve as liaison between anesthesia and hospital leadership

Clinical Practice

All-MD model with no CRNA supervision. Two operating rooms daily. Physicians spend 90% of time in the OR with preoperative assessments and occasional PACU coverage. Case mix includes craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, acute burn care, burn reconstruction, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries. Opportunities for regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided blocks, and advanced airway management.

Schedule and Call

Rotating 1-in-4 home call schedule. No resident or fellow teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required
• Board certified in Anesthesiology
• Eligible for Ohio medical licensure
• Leadership experience preferred
• Strong commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centered care
