Position Overview

The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Division Chief of Regional Anesthesia in Charleston. The role leads a team-based practice with clinical, academic, and research responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Division of Regional Anesthesia across three teaching hospitals and three ambulatory surgical centers.
• Oversee approximately 10,000 peripheral nerve blocks annually.
• Supervise and expand a division of 13 faculty.
• Support an ACGME-accredited regional anesthesiology fellowship with two fellows per year.

Qualifications

• Experience at the Associate Professor level or above.
• Board certification in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship training in Regional Anesthesiology.
• Eligibility for South Carolina licensure.
• Strong clinical, educational, and interpersonal skills.
• Research experience preferred.

MUSC operates three main teaching hospitals and three ambulatory surgical centers. The department includes approximately 100 faculty and 72 residents and fellows. MUSC is the number one hospital in South Carolina for seven consecutive years.
