Position Overview

Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant role at Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, a pediatric level-one academic trauma center in Charleston, SC. The position provides perioperative management for surgical and non-surgical procedures across eight operating suites, two cardiac cath labs, endoscopy, interventional radiology, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, and heme-oncology areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative evaluation of patients
• Administration of anesthetics under written practice protocols with attending anesthesiologists
• Operation of anesthesia machines and related equipment
• Patient transport assistance and record maintenance
• Participation in department teaching and continuing education
• Resuscitative care as indicated

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an Anesthesiologist Assistant program certified by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants
• Current certification recognized by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and the Anesthesiologist's Assistant Committee
• Licensure or eligibility by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association

Schedule

Full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week. This position qualifies for a location stipend. Practice occurs under clinical supervision of an anesthesiologist.
