Position Overview

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) roles at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Positions cover four main sites with a wide variety of cases from pre-term neonates to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

Administer anesthetics in consultation with attending anesthesiologists. Operate anesthesia machines and related equipment. Maintain patient records. Participate in teaching and continuing education. Provide resuscitative care as needed.

Facility Details

• MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital: pediatric level-one academic trauma center with 8 OR suites, 2 cardiac cath labs, and multiple non-OR sites.
• University Hospital: level-one academic trauma center with 21 OR suites covering trauma, transplant, ortho, neuro, ENT, robotics, and burns.
• MUSC Ashley River Towers: adult academic facility with 10 ORs and robust NORA practice.
• Rutledge Tower Ambulatory Surgery: 9 ORs for outpatient and inpatient adult cases.

Compensation & Benefits

Up to $50,000 sign-on bonus available for certain sites. Hourly pay rate. 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Schedule & Call Requirements

Self-scheduling with options including 3 shifts of 13.5 hours, 24-hour shifts, and limited 10-hour shifts. Volunteer basis for weekends, holidays, and nights.

Qualifications

Graduate of COA-accredited nurse anesthesia program. Certified or recertified by NBCRNA. Master's degree or higher in Nurse Anesthesia required for hires after March 1, 2019. Current SC APRN license or eligibility. BLS certification from American Heart Association.
