Position Overview

Broad anesthesiology practice in Soldotna, Alaska with physicians performing approximately 90% of cases personally. Case mix includes surgical, procedural, obstetric, pediatric, and regional anesthesia. No cardiac surgery or craniotomies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on anesthesia care alongside independent CRNAs
• Serve as resource for higher-acuity cases
• Teach nerve-catheter skills when applicable

Open to experienced anesthesiologists and strong new graduates.

Compensation & Benefits

Straight salary model with long-term progression toward 90th MGMA percentile. $50,000 sign-on bonus. 13 weeks paid time off annually including vacation, CME, and sick leave. Medical, prescription, dental, vision, disability, life, AD&D, and 403(b) benefits.

Schedule & Call Requirements

Home call averaging 1:10 with guaranteed post-call day off. On 80%+ of call days, physician typically arrives around 3 PM. Weekend call generally light and shared equitably with holidays. OR day begins at 8 AM.

Team of 5 anesthesiologists and 8 CRNAs. 4,738 surgical/procedural cases last fiscal year. Approximately 350 deliveries annually.

Facility Details

63-bed full-service hospital with 24-hour Emergency Department and Family Birth Center. Level IV Trauma Center. 4 main ORs, 2 endoscopy suites, C-section/OB, outpatient surgery, Cath lab, and procedural coverage.

Location Highlights

Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula offers salmon fishing, hiking, boating, camping, skiing, and snowshoeing. No state individual income tax. 150 scenic road miles south of Anchorage.
