Cardiac Critical Care Anesthesiologist | Augusta, GA

Position Overview

A leading academic medical center in Georgia seeks a fellowship-trained Critical Care Anesthesiologist with expertise in adult cardiac intensive care. The role involves high-acuity practice in an 18-bed CVICU and 12-bed SICU, with opportunities for research, teaching, and program development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care for complex post-cardiac surgery patients including CABG, valve procedures, adult congenital cases, and post-heart transplant
• Manage advanced support such as ECMO, VAD, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Perform procedures including central and arterial line placement, TEE if trained, bronchoscopy, and advanced airway management
• Mentor anesthesiology residents, critical care fellows, and APPs through didactics and simulation

Schedule & Call Requirements

Week 1 consists of 7 consecutive 12-hour ICU shifts (day or night). Week 2 is protected off time. Weeks 3 and 4 involve OR coverage Monday through Friday 7a-5p, with additional OR shifts available for extra income.

Compensation & Benefits

Minimum base salary is $520,000 for cardiac-trained candidates plus incentive bonus. Additional benefits include a $40,000 sign-on bonus, $10,000 relocation allowance, 56 paid days off annually, $5,000 CME allowance, full malpractice coverage, and comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance effective Day 1. Retirement options include 403b and 457b plans.

Qualifications

ABA Board Certified or Eligible in Anesthesiology and fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine are required. Cardiac Anesthesia fellowship or equivalent experience is preferred, along with proficiency in advanced TEE.
