Position Overview

Join the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as Chief of Anesthesia, leading the Anesthesia Division within Surgical and Integrated Clinical Communities. Oversee high standards of care, supervise the anesthesia team, and ensure efficient OR and endoscopy operations. Develop strategic plans and foster interdisciplinary teamwork in a patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise anesthesia team for clinical excellence, efficiency, and ethical standards.
• Manage preoperative assessments, intraoperative care, and post-anesthesia recovery.
• Collaborate with ED, subspecialties, and surgery department leaders.
• Oversee operations, quality improvements, and accreditation readiness.
• Maintain skills in airway management, intubation, invasive monitoring, regional anesthesia, and TEE.
• Champion evidence-based initiatives and peer reviews.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) from accredited institution.
• Full, unrestricted US medical license.
• US Citizenship (or per VA policy).
• Proficient in English; pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Board certification preferred for full-time CME reimbursement.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $385,000 - $400,000 per year (base + market pay).
• Recruitment Incentive: Authorized (sign-on bonus).
• EDRP: Up to $200,000 student loan repayment.
