VA Anesthesiologist $375K-$400K | Pittsburgh, PA

Position Overview

Join the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) Anesthesia Service as a full-time Anesthesiologist providing comprehensive perioperative care in a major VA tertiary referral center. Priority for candidates with transplant or cardiac experience. Team-based practice with clinical affiliation to University of Pittsburgh.

Key Responsibilities

• Peri-operative anesthetic care including pre-op assessment, intra-op administration/monitoring, and post-anesthesia care in team model with CRNAs/anesthesia residents.
• Initial evaluations, focused H&Ps, and multidisciplinary pre-op clinic.
• Rotating evening/weekend call for urgent cases.
• Expertise in regional/spinal anesthesia and broad techniques.
• Teaching anesthesia residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists.
• Quality improvement, VASQIP, and research opportunities.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from accredited school.
• Full, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
• U.S. citizenship (non-citizens in limited cases).
• Board certification preferred for full CME; proficient in English.
• Pre-employment physical, drug screen, background check.

• Cases: General, neurosurgical, orthopedic, plastic, thoracic, vascular, out-of-OR GI/EP; transplants/cardiac prioritized.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $375,000 - $400,000 per year + performance bonus.
• Sign-on: Recruitment incentive authorized.
• EDRP: Up to $200,000 student loan repayment (1-5 years).
• PTO: 50-55 days/year (26 annual, 13 sick, 11 federal holidays + 5 CME days).
