VA Anesthesiologist $200K-$350K | North Chicago, IL

Position Overview

Join the Veterans Health Administration as a full-time Anesthesiologist at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in North Chicago, IL. This traditional OR-based role offers independent practice delivering perioperative care across general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, podiatry, gynecology, pediatrics, and more. Eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) up to $200,000.

Key Responsibilities

• Perioperative anesthetic care for all ASA statuses
• Preoperative assessments and consultations
• Intraoperative direct patient care
• PACU and post-op ward care
• Non-OR anesthesia: GI endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cardioversion, ECT
• Occasional acute pain management (epidurals, PCA)
• Support out-of-OR airway management emergencies
• Bedside teaching for residents and trainees as Rosalind Franklin University clinical faculty

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) from accredited school
• Board certification preferred (CME requires it)
• Unrestricted US medical license
• Pediatric and regional anesthesia skills required (no fellowship needed)
• US Citizenship preferred; proficient in English
• Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $200,000 - $350,000 per year + performance bonus + regular increases
• PTO: 50-55 days/year (26 annual, 13 sick, 11 federal holidays + 5 CME days)

Schedule & Call Requirements
