VA Anesthesiologist $400K + Academic | Albuquerque, NM

Position Overview

Join the Anesthesiology Service at the New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) in Albuquerque, NM as a full-time Anesthesiologist. This collaborative team includes anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents, and medical students. Provide comprehensive perioperative care as the tertiary referral center for New Mexico and southern Colorado. Opportunities for research, teaching, and a clinical appointment at the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise CRNAs and anesthesia residents (primary focus), with occasional personal cases.
• Deliver anesthesia in OR and non-OR settings: cardiac surgery, vascular, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology.
• Growing non-OR anesthesia: gastroenterology, interventional radiology, cardiology, pulmonary, MRI.
• Preoperative optimization, intraoperative management (ERAS pathways), postoperative care including SICU, acute/chronic pain management.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) from accredited LCME/AOA school.
• Board certification implied for full benefits like CME.
• U.S. citizenship preferred; unrestricted license.
• Proficient in English; pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Compensation & Benefits

• $400,000 annual salary + performance bonus + regular increases.
